I only have a few cleaners in my arsenal, but the one that gets used the most is my all-purpose natural cleaner. A quick spray and wipe and I’m left with a clean surface and the scent of lavender wafting behind. I use this in the bathroom, kitchen and everywhere in between.
I switched to making my own natural cleaners to keep toxic chemicals out of my home, avoid unnecessary packaging and waste, and save money. My recipe is based on the “fantastic cleaner” from Clean & Green. This book has been my go to resource on natural cleaning for over a decade. My copy has gotten so much use it has a broken binding, water stains, hand-written notes and earmarked pages.
If you’re not familiar with the ingredients in the recipe, you can find borax and washing soda in the household cleaning section, usually among the laundry soaps, at most grocery stores. Castile soap, tea tree oil, and lavender essential oil can all be found at natural food stores.
There’s no need for harsh, toxic chemicals in our homes with availability of natural cleaning products. I hope you’ll give this recipe a try for a naturally clean and fresh smelling home.
